Things happen here. Things you can only dream of…

Out of Character Theatre company present their dizzying new show In/Significant. Ray lives a safe life in a still world but, when he discovers a body lying dead on a park bench, everything in his life is about to spin. Politics, Paranoia and Psychiatric Care all combine in a heady mix of drama, satire and documentary theatre to make a timely contribution in the current debate about mental health and hospitalisation.

In/Significant is the second part of the Fresh Visions series of science-fiction plays which explore the tensions and challenges of living with mental illness. Based on a series of workshops and interviews with clinicians, carers and those with in recovery this disorienting drama will take audiences into new worlds where facts can make inspiring fiction.

Out of Character is a creative and provocative theatre company whose members have all lived experience of mental illness. Their recent productions include In/Hospitable & Retail Therapy (York St John University), Disturbing Shakespeare (The University of Liverpool/Newcastle University/York Literature Festival) and in co-production with York Theatre Royal - More Tales From Kafka & Objects of Terror.
